Born frizzy? Untameable hair could be in our genes.

Do you dream of having silky hair that tumbles onto your shoulders Disney Princess style but instead find yourself struggling to drag a brush through your tangled tresses every morning?

Wild, untameable hair is an inconvenient fact of life for some and according to the latest research, some extreme frizz conditions could originate in your genes. Some people are just born with wild, unmanageable hair. Scientists at the University of Toulouse in France and Bonn in Germany have identified mutations in certain genes that cause what’s called ‘spun hair syndrome’.

Do you dream of having silky hair that tumbles onto your shoulders Disney Princess style but instead find yourself struggling to drag a brush through your tangled tresses every morning?

Those affected will have hair that is literally unbrushable and resistant to any kind of tangle taming treatments, products or gadgets. According to researchers, the majority of those affected tend to be fair, with dry curls or frizz.

The bad news for sufferers is that there is no known cure for the condition, aside from using rich hair moisturisers. The good news? Very little for the poor people who find it impossible to get a comb through their hair, although it’s only thought to affect a tiny percentage of the population. For the rest of us, it’s time for another hair mask and a long session with the Tangle Teezer.
