Ready For Your Scientific Selfie? The Olay 'Skin Advisor' App Is Here
BEAUTY NEWS | 20 February 2017
The Selfie. Fabulously fun and ever-so-slightly silly, taking a picture of your own face and posting it online has become a modern day obsession. Anyone can take one and everyone does, from mere mortals to supermodels, politicians and A-list celebs.
But over at skincare company, Olay, they’re taking the selfie a bit more seriously. Using some clever technology they’ve created the new Skin Advisor App which just launched here in the UK. Suddenly your innocent selfie shot comes under some serious scientific scrutiny, as you’re asked some probing questions about your skincare habits. Once it’s assessed your skin type, it can then assess your age and recommend products.
Suddenly your innocent selfie shot comes under some serious scientific scrutiny, as you’re asked some probing questions about your skincare habits.
What’s really clever is that this innovative new tool has learned to perceive age and skin flaws by being shown tens of thousands of ageing faces and impressively, or scarily you might argue, it apparently has a better success rate at guessing age from a face picture than a real-life dermatologist.
