Your Essential Festive Beauty Tips
BEAUTY TIPS | 10 December 2016
It’s that most wonderful time of the year again. The tree’s up and decorated, sparkly lights are twinkling everywhere and the high street’s jam-packed with festive gorgeousness. With Christmas only a couple of weeks away, the party season is in full swing, so we thought we’d contact a few of our favourite bloggers to glean some top tips for looking ultra-glamorous if you’re heading out to celebrate with friends and family.
Have fun and Merry Christmas!
Lindsay says: “As any girl knows, a smaller bag is perfect for a night out and rather than carrying loads of make-up in mine, I always have a lip balm to keep my lip hydrated. At party time, I like to apply balm across my eyelids to give me a dewy look and freshen up my face.”
Laura says: “My top beauty tip for surviving the season is to try and head to the spa and relax in the steam room at least once a week. Not only does it help remove all those toxins from your body (from too much mulled wine and all that excess junk!), it’s also great for putting a glow back into your skin. All the excess make-up you put on to look glamorous over the festive season can leave your poor pores feeling the strain. The heat from the steam opens them up, so you feel rejuvenated and lifeless skin should get an all over glow. A good steam can also speed up your metabolism, just remember to keep hydrated. Now, time for another mince pie?”

My So Kohl’d Life
Beth says: “Never try out a new make-up look on the night. I once decided to try a full on glitter smokey eye a few hours before I was due to go out. The result was glitter ALL down my face, and I had to frantically redo my whole face! It’s worth taking a few selfies and pictures before you go out using a flash – this will highlight a multitude of sins, including any see through items of clothing and foundation that is either too light or dark for your skin tone. We’ve definitely all had that moment of looking at pictures the morning after and wondered what we were thinking?! Finally always have some make-up in your handbag for essential top-ups throughout the night. I never go out without my key essentials, which are lipstick, powder and eyeliner.”
Rosie says: “My top tip? Always take your make-up off with warm water, cleanse with a Magnitone type brush and close your pores with cold water. Moisturise at night and in the morning and don’t forget, it’s essential to moisturise your neck too. When you’re applying make-up around the eyes, use your ring finger, as it’ll be the most gentle on a very sensitive area. Too much pulling of the thin skin around your eyes can damage it.”
Nola says: “As someone with very oily skin, I know it is essential to try and stop a Christmas glow from turning into a greasy mess in your party pictures! I always keep a pack of oil blotting sheets in my clutch. No matter how messy the night gets, you can make sure you look picture perfect (and no one will ever know your secret).”
