How To Wear The New Season’s Vampy Lipstick Shades
BEAUTY TIPS | 19 November 2016
Dark, vampish, glossy or matte. However you chose to wear it, dark statement lip colour is undoubtedly one of the party season’s hottest make up looks. But if you’re feeling really daring, you might want to apply a rich coating of inky black lip colour over your Lypsyl?
It’s the latest thing, we’re told. Black Lace Rabbit Lipstick by Lipstick Queen (£22 at Space NK) is the gothic lip colour everyone’s been talking about. But this pitch black stick is not quite what it seems. Apply over any other full coverage lipstick and it magically transforms your existing colour into a much darker, smokier version and comes in a festive party-ready gold shimmer shade too.
Dark statement lip colour is undoubtedly one of the party season’s hottest make up looks.
Feeling nervous about this deep, dark trend? Don’t be, says celebrity make-up artist, Enya Sullivan. Wearing a dark lipstick is a doddle so long as you follow a few simple rules.
“Exfoliate your lips gently with a toothbrush first to take away any dead skin, then prep the lips with your balm and blot so your lips feel soft and smooth. This is the base you want so the finished colour’s flawless. Applying lip liner next will give an even shape to the lips and stop your dark colour from bleeding. Fill in the lip a little with liner to keep the colour intense. Then once you’ve applied your lipstick over the top, blot gently with a tissue.”
Enya recommends another coat of colour on top for a really long-lasting finish that should see you through to the end of the night (so long as you don’t end up kissing too many frogs along the way).
